Spec'd to the shore it faces
The build sheet changes with the suburb. Within reach of the channel at Swansea, Blacksmiths or Caves Beach, we spec for salt: galvanised or stainless hardware, powder-coated tracks, and a maintenance conversation up front rather than after the first rust bloom. On the western shore the spec relaxes and the money is better spent on the opener or insulation. Colour matching to a Colorbond roof is offered as part of the measure; we do the match on site against the weathered roof, and we're straight about the fact that an exact match to weathered steel is a process, not a promise.
Repair or replace: the fork, called honestly
A snapped spring on a sound five-year-old sectional is a repair, every time. A rusted-through curtain on a thirty-year-old roller, or a tilt door whose frame has gone, is a replacement, and patching it is your money wasted twice. Plenty of doors sit between those poles, which is why the measure visit starts as an inspection: we'll argue the cheaper path when the cheaper path is right. Approvals, briefly
A like-for-like garage door replacement on a house generally proceeds as exempt development in NSW; heritage items, some zones and non-standard cases can need more. It's covered plainly, with the sources linked, in the council approval guide.
